Trail Review(s)
Rider - Eric
This was a last ditch effort to extend fall.  We knew we were not up for a full ride from Dumont Lake, but we still wanted one more ride up high.  After the first few snow drifts on north facing slopes, the trail was in pretty good shape.  This section allows motorized users, so we knew we would not be doing too much damage even if it was wet.
Would you ride again?
No, not worth the long slow drive up Buffalo Pass. You can ride the best parts of this loop starting from Dumont Lake on Rabbit Ears Pass.
Any suggestions?
If you are looking for a staring point for a shuttle, the Dumont Lake trailhead is much easier to get to.  It is Hwy 40, paved most of the way. This road is a bit rough for low clearance cars and takes much longer to drive. Some people ride up Spring Creek, then the road to the pass and then down to town via the Fish Creek Falls trail or down the Steamboat ski area from Mt Werner.
